The Unit Test Framework Toolkit provides interactive tools you use to create, configure, manage, and execute tests that check VIs for functional correctness. System RequirementsIn addition to the system requirements for the LabVIEW Development System, the Unit Test Framework Toolkit has the following requirements: - LabVIEW 2013 Base, Full, or Professional Development System (32-bit)
- At least 64 MB of disk space
Refer to the LabVIEW Readme for additional system requirements and supported operating systems for LabVIEW. Installation InstructionsYou can install all of your LabVIEW products—including the Unit Test Framework Toolkit—using the LabVIEW 2013 Platform DVDs. Refer to the LabVIEW Installation Guide on the LabVIEW Platform DVD 1 for installation instructions and system requirements. To request additional LabVIEW Platform DVDs, refer to the National Instruments website. Note If you purchased this product with an NI Software Suite or NI Product Bundle, use the installation media that shipped with your purchase to install this product. Unit Test Framework Toolkit Updates and NotificationsNational Instruments posts information about critical updates and security notifications on ni.com. Visit ni.com/info and enter Info Code updates to access this information. New Features- You can assign test vectors to expected values of outputs. The Unit Test Framework Toolkit 2013 provides an example project Assign Vector to Expected Value.lvproj to demonstrate this feature.
- In the Unit Test Framework Toolkit 2012 and previous versions, if you modify a VI after creating a test, you can click the Update button on the Test Cases page of the Test Properties dialog box to update input and output names of each test case, but you have to reconfigure input values, expected values, and comparison types. In the Unit Test Framework 2013, after you click the Update button, LabVIEW applies the original values in some cases.
- Use the new Run button on the Test Cases page of the Test Properties dialog box to execute a single test case without closing this dialog box.
- Use the new Rearrange button on the Test Cases page of the Test Properties dialog box to rearrange the order of test cases.
- The Test Cases page of the Test Properties dialog box displays a new connector pane image. If you modify the VI under test after creating a test, you also can click the Update button to update the image on this page.
- When you enter input values or expected values on the Test Cases page, you can press to enter the value in the next cell and press to switch to the value in the previous cell.
- Use the new Disable breakpoints option on the Advanced page of the Test Properties dialog box to toggle test execution suspension at a breakpoint.
- Use the new Automatic error handling option on the Advanced page of the Test Properties dialog box to disable automatic error handling and to continue to run the VI under test, setup VI, and teardown VI even when an error occurs during test execution.
- When you enter values of test vectors in the Test Vector Properties - Edit dialog box, you can press to move to the value in the next cell and press to switch to the value in the previous cell.
- You can find the User-Defined Test Template.vit template by selecting File»New to display the New dialog box and selecting VI»From Template»Unit Test Framework. You also can locate this template in the labview\templates\UnitTestFramework directory.
- The Unit Test Framework Toolkit 2013 improves the HTML and ASCII test reports by adding input values, input vector values, expected vector values, and sequence number of permutations.
Known IssuesYou can access the software and documentation known issues list online. Refer to the National Instruments website for an up-to-date list of known issues in the Unit Test Framework Toolkit. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create. You also can find the examples for the Unit Test Framework Toolkit in the labview\examples\Unit Test Framework directory. Automating the Installation of NI ProductsYou can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes. However, starting with the August 2012 releases (products using NI Installers version 3.1 or later), you may need to perform additional steps before or during a silent installation of NI software. If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.0, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.0 separately before you install NI software. For more information, refer to the following KnowledgeBase articles: - For more information on silent installations of individual NI products, refer to KB 4CJDP38M, Automating the Installation of a Single Installer.
- For more information on silent installations of suited NI products, such as NI Developer Suite, refer to KB 4GGGDQH0, Automating the Installation of a Suited Installer.
- To determine what version of NI Installers your product contains, refer to KB 4CJDR18M, How Can I Determine the Type and Version of My National Instruments Installer?.
How to Use NI Software with Microsoft Windows 8When you install National Instruments software on Microsoft Windows 8, you will notice a few additional tiles on the Start screen, including shortcuts to NI application software products such as NI LabVIEW, Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), and the new NI Launcher.
